Thoughtful outdoor spaces, designed around how you use them
Your garden should feel like an extension of your home, not a collection of unrelated features. At The Greenwich Home Co., we design and build considered outdoor improvements, combining practical garden carpentry with carefully selected materials, planting and hard landscaping.
From a bespoke pergola or built-in seating area to a complete garden room, decking and planting scheme, we can help create an outdoor space that works visually and practically.
We specialise in garden carpentry and smaller-scale landscape improvements, rather than large landscaping schemes. That means we can give the same attention to detail to a single garden project as we do to the individual elements of a larger outdoor transformation.
Our work includes bespoke garden structures, decking, fencing, patios, planters, garden rooms, outdoor kitchens, garden storage and more, with design and project management handled as part of the service.

Garden carpentry designed around your home
Good garden carpentry should look like it belongs there.
We design and build outdoor timber elements with consideration for your home’s architecture, the proportions of the garden and how the space will actually be used. Traditional details can suit a period property just as well as clean-lined contemporary structures can complement a modern home.

Decking
A well-designed deck can create an entirely new area for dining, entertaining or relaxing, particularly where an awkward garden level or unused area can be turned into a useful outdoor room.
We install and build:
- Timber decking
- Hardwood decking
- Composite decking
- Replacement decking
- Decking extensions
- Raised decking
- Low-level decking
- Decking steps
- Integrated seating
- Decking around garden rooms and buildings
- Decking around hot tubs
- Bespoke decking structures
We can also incorporate lighting, screening, planters and seating so that the decking feels like a designed part of the garden rather than a standalone platform.
Bespoke fencing, gates and garden screening
Fencing has a significant visual impact on a garden, particularly in London where boundaries can form a large part of the view from inside the house.
We build and install both practical and design-led timber boundaries, including:
- Timber fencing
- Close-board fencing
- Traditional fencing
- Contemporary fencing
- Slatted fencing
- Horizontal fencing
- Decorative fencing
- Bespoke fencing
- Timber gates
- Side gates
- Bespoke garden gates
- Privacy screens
- Garden screening
- Trellis
- Fence repairs
- Fence staining and painting
The aim is not only to create a secure boundary, but one that works with the character of the property and the wider garden design.
Bespoke garden structures
- Pergolas
- Gazebos
- Garden screens
- Privacy screens
- Trellis
- Timber structures
- Covered seating areas
- Outdoor entertaining structures
- Garden offices
- Garden rooms
- Garden studios
- Summerhouses
- Sheds
- Playhouses
- Bespoke garden buildings
Structures can be built from scratch or constructed around suitable prefabricated buildings where this makes more sense for the project.
Garden seating and outdoor furniture
Outdoor furniture can be designed to make much better use of the space available, particularly in smaller London gardens.
We build bespoke:
- Garden benches
- Built-in seating
- Dining tables
- Garden furniture
- Banquette-style outdoor seating
- Seating integrated into decking
- Seating incorporated into pergolas
- Storage benches
- Outdoor entertaining areas
Where appropriate, seating can incorporate hidden storage, planters, screens or other elements to make better use of limited space.
Planters, raised beds and garden edging
Built-in planting can be one of the simplest ways to introduce structure and definition to a garden.
We build:
- Timber planters
- Composite planters
- Sleeper planters
- Raised beds
- Timber raised beds
- Corten steel-edged beds
- Lawn edging
- Corten steel lawn edging
- Bespoke planting areas
- Planter boxes
- Integrated planters
Where we build the planting areas, we can also take care of the planting itself, creating a complete finished element rather than leaving you with an empty structure to fill.
Garden storage
Practical storage doesn’t have to look like an afterthought.
We design and build storage solutions around the things you actually need to keep outside, including:
- Bin stores
- Bike stores
- Log stores
- Garden storage
- Bespoke storage cupboards
- Timber storage structures
- Storage integrated into seating
- Storage integrated into garden structures
The design can be tailored to the available space and finished to complement your home and garden.
Garden rooms, offices and buildings
A garden building can provide valuable additional space without changing the footprint of your house.
We can build or install:
- Garden offices
- Garden rooms
- Garden studios
- Summerhouses
- Sheds
- Playhouses
- Bespoke timber buildings
- Prefabricated garden buildings
- Garden building interiors
- Timber cladding
- Internal carpentry and finishing
We can also handle associated elements such as decking, steps, storage, lighting and landscaping around the building, creating a more cohesive finished space.
Outdoor kitchens and entertaining areas
If you use your garden for entertaining, we can design and build surrounding structure.
This can include:
- Outdoor kitchens
- BBQ structures
- BBQ areas
- Outdoor worktops
- Serving areas
- Built-in seating
- Pergolas
- Outdoor dining areas
- Storage
- Integrated lighting
- Planting and screening
The result is a more permanent outdoor living space designed around how you use the garden.
Porcelain patios and smaller hard landscaping projects
We can undertake smaller patio and hard landscaping projects where the emphasis is on creating a considered outdoor space rather than carrying out large-scale landscaping.
This includes:
- Porcelain patios
- Natural stone paving
- Garden paths
- Small terraces
- Steps
- Gravel areas
- Patio edging
- Paving around garden rooms
- Bases for garden buildings
- Small areas of brick or blockwork
- Foundations for garden structures
For larger landscaping schemes and substantial driveways or patios, a dedicated landscaping contractor may be more appropriate. Our focus is on smaller, design-led outdoor projects where carpentry, structures and landscaping come together.
Garden lighting, irrigation and outdoor water
Lighting can make a significant difference to how a garden works after dark.
We can incorporate:
- Low-voltage garden lighting
- Lighting within pergolas and structures
- Decking lighting
- Feature lighting
- Lighting around planting
- Outdoor water points
- Irrigation
- Outdoor showers
Where specialist electrical or plumbing work is required, we coordinate with the appropriate qualified contractor as part of the project.
Outdoor design, not just outdoor construction
A garden improvement should be considered as a whole.
We look at the relationship between the house, garden, materials, levels, planting and the way you intend to use the space. A new deck might need screening. A pergola might work better with integrated seating. A garden room might need a path, planting and lighting to make it feel properly connected to the garden.
That design-led approach is particularly valuable in London gardens, where space is often limited and every element needs to earn its place.
Whether you have a clear idea of what you want or need help developing the concept, we can work with you to create a coherent outdoor space and then manage the work needed to bring it together.
Garden carpentry and landscape improvements in London
We work with homeowners across London and the surrounding Home Counties, with particular experience of period and character properties.
Our projects are typically suited to homeowners looking for £3,000–£25,000 garden improvements, although the right larger project can also be considered where the work is centred around bespoke structures, carpentry and outdoor living rather than large-scale landscaping.
If you’re looking for someone to build a pergola, replace a tired deck, create bespoke garden storage, install fencing or bring several elements together into a properly considered outdoor space, we can help.
Carefully managed. Beautifully finished.
